Hawaiian Luau

137-001

Last year on my side of the family we all discussed how troubling it is to meet everyone for birthdays throughout the year. We decided that it would be fun to plan a one year birthday party for all the kids. There are seven all together. Ranging from age 14-1. We also live about 20 minutes to an hour away. Also, most of the older kids have so many activities going on its hard to plan for weekends that are free with summer school, dance, softball and church. It gets just a little crazy. So last year at christmas we planned that we would try it out this year in July. My parents and sister had most of all the decorations for a Hawaiian party so that’s what we went with. We were suppose to buy each child a present ten dollars or more. We also had since Christmas to get something. Which made it easier I think!! Since, most of the time I am a procrastinator when it comes to that and always buy last-minute. Well, it turned out great my parents decorated it perfect, we had grass skirts and leis and good food! Here are a few snap shots from the party!

There is a ton!! Lets just say it will be like you are there!

The kids really loved getting together! My parents made up games and an obstacle course which was a blast. I helped Lyla through it but really she did great by herself! She kept up really well with the older kids. I cannot wait for next years party. We decided we are doing a pirate party! So fun!! Arrrrggg Matey! Well I may have to perfect that a little before the party. I have some time which is good! It had been fun already searching pirate ideas on Pinterest!!

Celebrating 4th of July

I know it’s a little late but I am wanting to show these adorable pictures of our time together! This is the first year we decided to go to the towns fireworks. Usually, we go to Tony’s side of the family and they have lots of food and they light off their own fireworks. This year it was so much fun doing our own thing! I think we may make it a tradition!

They ate too many cheetos but did awesome when it came to being so close to the fireworks!! It was loud!

Celebrating Our Hero

Happy Father’s Day! It was a pretty uneventful day. Tony wasn’t feeling the best and he had to work this morning. What a way to spend a day dedicated to wonderful dads like him! I am pretty sure he’s the best dad that the girls could have. He’s absolutely so loving and cares so much about us. All of us, not just the girls. I think that makes him our hero! He truly is one of kind. I couldn’t of asked for anyone better.

Camping With Kids

This summer we have decided to try to test out our pop-up camper. I am very excited to take the girls in the camper I grew up going camping in. I have been planning and prepping for a few weeks so we are ready to go when daddy has off work! We are going to go to a close state park so in case we have to come back home we haven’t spent a ton and also are too far from home. I am crossing my fingers that all goes smooth. Mothers Day Craft Show

607

Starting out I will talk about my mini business I started! This has been a dream of mine for a long time. To create something and have people fall in love with my product. It has taken too long for me to actually step forward and just do it!! I need to start taking chances!! Well, anyways I love owls. I love them for decor, clothes, animals, kids, everything. Owl my house and I am complete. Kind of. So, I started cutting out my own template and took the leap!! I made a felt owl!! Turned out super cute! I will have to find the picture of the one I sent to an Instagram friend who is in love with owls as well! January of this year I had made a page on facebook to promote my owls. I was amazed with how well everyone took to sharing my owls and wanting to request custom orders!! Was going soo great!! I felt so blessed!

On April 28th of this year I attended my first craft show. LytenLove was becoming real! Definitely a newbie in this whole process. I felt so prepared in February when I signed up but as the month passed by I started to get nervous. I searched online and pinterest to find great ideas of how it all worked and to be prepared. I found some great check lists on what to have there with me. It was a great tool for those first starting out.

I signed up on vistaprint and got 500 business cards for just 7.00 I was impressed with the quality and how quickly they got delivered!! It was the first step to feeling “official”. I had signed up for the show with another newbie – Happy Butterfly Designs by Keri. She has a website on facebook check her items out!! She creates these adorable crocheted baby props, hats and decor. Also, she can customize to how you would like and sizes!! It was so great to have her with me that day!! I was completely nervous! I did end up having enough product which I was scared I wouldnt. I only did have about 35 items!! Yikes!! Probably a good start but definitely not enough for the avid craft fair goer! I also made my own banner out of felt of course! Printed my own price tags off this great website called everythingetsy.com! It was such a last minute thought and it was so helpful!! I snagged a cute yellow stool off the buy sell trade groups off of facebook. Total steal for 3.00!

The day of the show I only made 45 dollars. Which the show costed 23 dollars so really I only made nothing. I put that into cost of items to make and also the items used for the show. It was a great way to learn the not tos, the to dos and the that’s an awesome idea!

Here is my booth!
(sorry some are blurry- we didnt bring the nice camera which is an item I will be bringing next time- all pictures were taken with phones)

Play area rearranging

This week has been full of rearranging and cleaning. Mainly the toy area and moving out some furniture we had in the area. It was a complete mess and wasn’t really even being used because we couldn’t find many toys! The girls have absolutely too many toys and really I need to sort thru them more and get rid of what we don’t use. It’s hard for me to let go because I feel like Tenley will miss out if we get rid of them. That’s really the hoarder in me! Sad but true! Ask Tony he tells me all the time I need to let go.
So back to organizing the toy area!

In the middle of organizing

20120928-154739.jpg

With the girls it took me from about noon til 7pm to really get it organized the way I wanted it. Which if the girls were gone would of taken me about 2 hours to get all of it situated. Actually I probably would of gotten more done and purged what I didn’t want. It’s soo hard even to think to get rid of things when Lyla is in the room because she always thinks she needs everything. She’s my little hoarder! Ahh she’s just like me. In the end, I was pretty satisfied with the turn out of the room!

After 7 hrs plus to get this far, it’s going to stay this way for awhile!

So glad that is done for the week and I actually finished my project life journal cards that were due by October 1st. They turned out better than I thought and I really hope people enjoy them. I wont really know if people will like them but I hope they do!
